Cong to chalk out strategy to break log-jam in LS

Bangalore, Monday 22 November 2010: Ahead of the Parliament reconvening on Monday, , Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and other senior party leaders met here on Sunday to chalk out a strategy on how to end the logjam in both Houses of Parliament that have remained paralysed over the past two weeks over an adamant Opposition’s demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum issue.

The Congress Core Group meeting was learnt to be grappling with the strategy to deal with the situation as Parliament resumes its sitting on Monday. , Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Defence Minister A. K. Antony were among those who attended the high-level meeting.

The meeting of the core group took place on a day when the BJP, which has launched an offensive against Congress on the issue of corruption, is itself feeling cornered over Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who is under pressure to quit following disclosure of an alleged scam in out of turn land allotment.

With the Congress and the opposition BJP still adamant on their respective stands, all indications point to a stormy day ahead in Parliament on Monday with little chances of normal functioning being allowed to resume.
