Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, December 22, 2010: As per the medical bulletin issued by Ananthapuri hospital on Wednesday, the health condition of the former Chief minister and senior Congress leader K Karunakaran has worsened. Leader K. Karunakaran turned serious again, and was put on ventilator support due to breathing problems.
The medical board evaluated the condition and put Karunakaran back to full ventilator. Artificial respiratory system was earlier suspended after great progress was recorded in the health condition. The 93-year-old leader was admitted to the Ananthapuri Hospital on December 10th with fever and uneasiness following a variation in his temperature.

The ventilator support to ailing Congress stalwart K Karunakaran was removed on Friday as his overall health condition made further improvement.
According to a medical bullettin issued by Aanthapuri Hospital, where the 93-year-old former Chief Minister has been undergoing treatment for a week, the ventilator as well as tubes had been removed after the team of doctors attending on him reviewed his condition. His breathing condition and responses had been satisfactory.
However, he was still in the intensive care unit and giving of oxygen using mask and other treatments were continuing. Restrictions for visitors were also continuing, the bulletin said.
Karunakaran was admitted to hospital with severe breathing problem and fever on Friday last. His condition took a critical turn on Monday and had been on total ventilator support.
