US Congress condemns Mumbai attacks

Washington, Friday 12 Dec 2008: The US House of Representatives last night passed a resolution condemning last month’s terrorist strikes in Mumbai that claimed nearly 200 lives and injured about 300.

The House passed H. Res. 1532 by unanimous consent at the urging of Representative Jim McDermott (D-WA), the co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, and other House leaders, Representative McDermott said the vote has demonstrated America’s strong and unwavering support for India, especially in this time of crisis.

“We spoke with one voice, as one Democratic nation to another Democratic nation, making clear our support for India and our condemnation of this unprovoked attack. I said at the time and I say again, today we are all Indian, and we stand by your side just as you stood by America on 9/11,” he said.

The resolution condemned the attacks in the strongest possible language, and expressed condolences to India and the people directly affected. It also makes a pledge for all appropriate US support and assistance to aid India in pursuing the people responsible, and recognizes Pakistan’s statements and pledge to conduct a thorough investigation.

    Dear Joseph,
Your American Loyalty is misplaced.India has only Indians.Every one else will be with vested interests only.Where were these Americans for the last 50 yrs.
