Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday 28 April 2009: Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI (M) state secretary alleged that the incidents in Kannur were part of a conspiracy hatched by the Congress. Taking on Oommen Chandy, opposition leader, Pinarayi asked the Congress leader to make clear his intention behind visiting Kannur on poll day. Pointing out that Chandy and Chennithala has expressed different statements regarding the Kannur incident; Vijayan urged the Congress leadership to clarify who was lying.

Regarding the clarification given by Chandy that he went to visit those who were injured in CPI (M) attacks, Vijayan asked the opposition leader to clearly spell whom he had visited on the controversial visit to Kannur. Alleging that union minister Vayalar Ravi too was part of the conspiracy; Vijayan claimed that had been the conspiracy been successful, many people should have lost their lives. He also accused that the conspiracy was to sabotage the election process in the state.

Taking a dig at the Janata Dal (S) leadership, Vijayan opined that those who have worked to ensure the defeat of LDF candidates do not belong to the JD (S).
