Aluva, Saturday, January 23, 2010: The Aluva Thrikkunnathu seminary church which was closed for past 33 years was opened for devotees as per Kerala High Court order for two days.The faithful belonging to the Orthodox and Patriarch factions to offer prayers in connection with the annual church festival. Justice Harun-Ul-Rashid passed the order on a petition filed by the Orthodox faction seeking to appoint an advocate commission to verify and report to the court the happenings at the church on January 23 and 24.
According to the timings fixed by the court, the Orthodox faction could enter the church from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the Patriarch faction from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., on January 23 and 24.
The Court appointed High Court lawyer Sreelal Warrier as advocate commissioner to verify and report to the court the way the prayers were conducted by both factions.
The Court expressed the hope that the leadership of both factions would ensure that no untoward incidents would happen on those days and that peace and tranquility would prevail in the area. The court said that every endeavour would be made by the leaders to control their followers to prevent any disturbances during prayers by bishops or priests.
