New Delhi, Thursday 2 July 2009: Annoyed about the media reports that CPI is lining with Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, the party leadership today came out strongly denying the reports. Speaking in an interview KE Ismail, assistant secretary stated that the decision abstain from the LDF meeting held yesterday was not intentional.

KE Ismail clarified that the original decision of the party was to attend the meeting but the party had to skip the meeting due to circumstances. “Since the parliament in session and the national council is going on we had decided to send two representatives to the meeting. But the meeting of the state cabinet too was on same time and so we couldn’t attend the meeting” – clarified Mr Ismail.

When asked if CPI was moving along with the CM, Mr Ismail denied it and said that they are not aware what the CM has in his mind. “We have our own decisions and we move according to them” – he said.

KE Ismail opined that the issue of JD(S) should be discussed in LDF. He clarified that CPI does not argue that JD(S) official faction who worked with UDF should be brought back to LDF. Stating that CPI is against such a move, Mr Ismail added that the issue should be discussed in LDF before reaching a decision.
