CPM leader Peroorkkada Sadasivan’s body cremated  

Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, September 10, 2010: The mortal remains of the former CPI (M) State committee member and Trade union leader, Peroorkkada Sadasivan were consigned to flames at the funeral in the Thycaud crematorium. The funeral was carried out after rich tributes were paid to the departed soul in the presence of a large gathering.

Large crowd thronged into the CPM district committee office in Mettukkada to pay homage to the CPI (M) leader Peroorkkada Sadasivan. Sadasivan (82 years) had died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram today morning, where he was under treatment for his ailment. For long, he had served as member of the CPI-M’s state committee and Thiruvananthapuram district committee.

He was in the forefront several labour struggles in the south Kerala from the year 1954 onwards. In a condolence message, CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said Sadasivan had made significant contributions to the party as well as its trade union wing CITU.

He had played a vital role in organising labourers in different sectors including the loading and unloading workers. His contribution in building the CPI-M as a frontline political force in south Kerala was also great, Vijayan said.
