Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday 13 May 2009: here today alleged that CPM is interfering in the decisions of Cabinet in prosecution of CPM State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in SNC Lavalin scam. He also said that party is intervening in the independent decisions of Governor.

Earlier today the Cabinet has unanimously decided to brief the Governor RS Gavai on the SNC prosecution issue the Cabinet is likely to explain that the decision taken not to prosecute CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was taken after scrutinizing all documents. The decision comes in the wake of Governor seeking more details from Government after Advocate General CP Sudhakar Prasad said, his legal advice report was handed over without going through all details regarding the multi crore SNC Lavalin scam.

Kerala Governor R S Gavai has sought further details from the state government on the legal opinion of state Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad that there was no firm ground to grant permission to CBI to prosecute CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC-Lavalin corruption case.

The statement was issued in the wake of the “conflicting news and views appearing in the media” regarding the matter of granting sanction to prosecute Mr. Vijayan in the case.

It is estimated that before taking crucial decision in this case, the Governor may seek special legal opinion. For that the governor will hold discussion with Attorney General and Solicitor General.
