Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, June 21, 2011: Congress-led UDF government in Kerala today said there was no change in their stand that a new dam be constructed at Mullaperiyar in place of the existing one. “There is no change in the stand of the state government on Mullaperiyar dam issue”, State Water Resources Minister, P.J. Joseph said.
Minister PJ Joseph was speaking to the reporters after the high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Tuesday. The government will take necessary steps to for the construction of the new dam at Mullaperiyar, he added. The intention of government is to resolve the issue amicably,” he said.
The high-level meeting has also decided to call an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.
