Decision on State lottery today: Thomas Isaac

Palakkad, Monday, August 30, 2010: said here that a decision on Kerala lotteries would be made by this evening. High Court earlier on the day in its verdict pronounced that lucky draw of both the Kerala and inter-State lotteries should be held once a week.

Expressing his content over the Court directive, Isaac said that that decision was acceptable. He opined this during a press meet, here in the noon.

Earlier report

on Monday asked the state to collect tax in advance from lotteries of other states functioning in the state.

The court directed this while considering the plea filed by Megha Distributors against the lotteries seized by the sales tax department at the Walayar check post on charge of tax evasion.

The court directed to inform the state the details regarding the draw of lotteries conducted by other states. Not only that the draw should be conducted after following the rules. The agencies have the right to sell the lotteries of other states. Meantime, this is not liable for lotteries functioning illegally.
