Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday, September 26, 2009: DGP Jacob Punnose along with ADGP Chandrasekhar had visited the spot where Shiva Prasad was hacked to death by a group of miscreants near Varkala on Wednesday.

According to reports, the police have attained vital hints about the accused and the arrest would take place very soon. It has been suspected that a dalit group is behind the murder. DGP has also visited places near Thrimballur temple where the incident has occurred. Two witnesses were also been interrogated by the DGP.

After visiting the place, DGP ensured the security of people in the area and gave instructions to strengthen night patrol in the locale. DGP had also visited the house of Vengavila veettil Asokan, who had been attacked by the miscreants on the same day.

Shivaprasad was killed after he was hacked on his head by the goons early in the morning on Wednesday. He was taking a morning walk when the goons came in a bike and attacked him near Ayirur Thrimballur temple. The death occurred on the way to hospital.
