Thrissur, Wednesday, December 29, 2010: The post-funerary rites for former Chief Minister and Veteran Congress Leader K. Karunakaran were performed here on Wednesday. He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on December 23. Congress leaders were present when Karunakaran’s family, including son K. Muraleedharan and daughter Padmaja Venugopal, performed the ‘sanchayanam.’

Among those present on the occasion were Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi; Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas; Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA; Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala; District Congress Committee president Benny Behanan; treasurer C. N. Balakrishnan; and Congress leaders C. V. Padmarajan, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai and G. Karthikeyan.
