Medicos stage two hour strike in Kerala   Medicos

Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday 08 May 2010: Doctors across the state staged a two-hour token strike in protest against the increasing incidents of violence against Hospitals and Doctors and the delay on the part of the government in enacting the law to protect hospitals against attacks and to punish those who perpetrate violence.

Hospital services, except emergency ones were paralysed for two hours from 8 am to 10 am today.

The doctors complained that no action was taken against 27 hospital attack cases reported so far. They also alleged that action was taken in some petty cases.

Though the law to protect hospitals against attacks was drafted, it has not come into effect so far. If it were implemented then the attack towards hospitals would become a non-bailable crime.
