Election nullification: KPCC to file appeal in SC  

Kochi,Monday, 26 July 2010: said here reacting to the High Court’s verdict nullifying election of Kodikunnil Suresh, that Congress would approach the Supreme Court challenging the same.

Chennithala asserted that this was not the first time that he had become an MP, but the third tenure. The party would take the issue seriously, he added.

In a noteworthy verdict made today, High Court nullified election of Kodikkunnil Suresh of Congress to Lok Sabha. The Court in its ruling, told that Suresh, a Christian convert and five-time MP, who now represents Mavellikara (Reserved) constituency, was not qualified to represent the constituency. Justice Sasidharan Nambiar pronounced the verdict on three appeals filed by the leader’s counterpart in the then election R.S Anil and other two.

The Court verified the caste certificate produced by Suresh and observed it unreliable and fake, and that was not adequate to prove his right to contest from a reserved constituency. It also pointed out that his statements recorded at different times conveyed contradiction and hence ruled out is stating deceitful.
