Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, March 28, 2010: The Electricity Regulatory Commission would meet on Wednesday March 31st to hear the requirements of KSEB for hiking the rates. It is reported that the Regulatory commission would approve the requirements of KSEB.
The KSEB has demanded the Electricity regulatory commission to impose control over the electricity consumption in the Kerala state. The industrial and commercial consumers would be charged extra for 25 percent of the total power consumption, the KSEB has decided. The extra rate can be decided by the regulatory commission.
The full board meeting which was held on Wednesday has decided to charge extra rate for domestic power consumers who consume more than 200 units. The power consumption has increased to staggering levels due to the increase in temperature of the state. KSEB has expressed that the water level in the reservoirs is gradually decreasing and due to this condition the power consumption must be controlled in any circumstances. The KSEB has decided to impose control of power consumption in the state in a meeting held with Electricity Minister A.K Balan.
