Alappuzha, Friday 22 February 2011: The UDF’s stance on Endosulfan will not change in the wake of the Union deciding against imposing a ban on the pesticide, has said.

The Opposition front, while in power, had asked the Centre to impose a complete ban on the pesticide. The Centre had agreed for a State-wide ban.

That ban was in vogue and the UDF’s stance that the pesticide had to be banned remained unchanged, he said while talking to reporters here. UDF representatives would be part of an all-party delegation that would head to New Delhi shortly to exert pressure on the Union government to consider supporting a global ban on Endosulfan at the forthcoming conference of the parties to the Stockholm Convention, he said.
