Kottayam, Tuesday, January 11, 2011: ‘Petta Thullal’ by the Ambalappuzha and Alangadu teams, representing the maternal and paternal lineage of Lord Ayyappa, has begun at Erumeli today.
As per the custom, the Ambalappuzha team started the sacred dance from Kochambalam at noon after sighting the ‘Krishna Parunthu’ in the skies while the Alangad team began the dance after sighting a star in the daylight skies in the afternoon.

The Ambalappuzha team will proceed to the Vavar Palli (Nainar Mosque) to pay homage to the close confidant of the Lord. They will be received by the leaders of the local Jama-at. Later, the Ambalappuzha team accompanied by Jama-at leaders will move to the Valiambalam from where they will proceed to Pampa.

The Erumeli Chandanakkudom celebrations by the Jama-at began on Monday afternoon.
