Kannur, Tuesday, 20 July 2010: The seven-member expert panel headed by B. Madhusoodana Kurup, member of Coastal Zone Management Authority, constituted by the government today visited the Mangrove theme park at Pappinissery, here, in the wake of controversies regarding the park. The park, which comes under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), was alleged to have caused environmental hazards and violated its relevant norms.

The committee after collecting evidence would also hold discussion with the Eco-Tourism Society, which has the ownership of the park.

The expert committee would submit the report on the same to the government on 24th of this month. Chief Minister had already clarified that the government would take appropriate action and apprise the Centre of it.

The functioning of the park had been closed down following an instruction from the Centre.
