Film ‘Kandahar’ to hit big screens today  

Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, December 16, 2010: Padmasree Bharath Mohanlal’s much awaited film “Kandahar” is all set to release today. Every Mohanlal fans have been anxiously waiting for his Christmas release film “Kandahar”, directed by Major Ravi, in which Amithab Bhachan appearing in Malayalam film for the first time.

The great acting legends are joining together for the first time, Padmasree Bharath Mohanlal and Bollywood star Amithabh Bhachan in new venture of Major Ravi who is former Indian Army officer. Kandhahar is Mohanlal’s Christmas release which all set to release on December 16th, 2010. The film “Kandahar” is the third part in the series of Keerthichkra after Kurukshetra in 2008 from Malayalam film Director Major A.K. Ravindran (MajorRavi), who is the recipient of President’s medal.

The film is not based any story, but is about Indian Airlines flight 814 hijack incident which is happened and threatened India in 1999. Hijackers forced to aircraft to land the flight in the place Kandahar in Afganistan. The adventrrous flight sequences are the highlights of this film, which are taken in Russia.

The film also portrays the relationship between a father (Lokanathan Sharma) and son(Suryanathan Sharma) with an Army officer named Major Mahadvan(Mohanlal),who comes in their life. As the film progress it turns to an unusual relation beyond the blood relationship between that father and Major Mahadevan.

Keerthichkra is the very first film of Major Ravi, which was a big commercial hit in Kerala. The success continued in his second Mohanlal’s film Kurukshetra , which is the second part of “Keerthichkra”. Before it, He was directed his first Mammootty ’s film titled “Mission 90 days”, which was not a success in box office. Now Mohanlal is again joining with him in his fourth film “Kandhahar” , Which is the film of war against terrorism.

Bollywood legend Amitab Bhachan joining with Padmasree Bharath Mohanlal in this film. The another special thing in this film is the former Sumalatha coming back into Malyalam film after long years back.

Kandahar’ would hit the big screens in 125 centers.This includes nine theaters in Bangalore, five in Chennai and around eighteen theaters in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad. The film has been charted at four centers in Trivandrum. ‘Kandahar’ is a Maxlab release.
