Jammu, Sunday 14 Sept 2008: Indian troops were today fired at from across the line of control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving a jawan injured, defence sources said.
“There was firing from cross the LoC in Balnoi area of Poonch district. One jawan was hit by a bullet,” they said adding the soldier was hospitalised.
One to two rounds of rocket projectile grenades were also fired in the area, they said, adding the militants may have fired the rounds.
PRO of 16 Corps, Official said it was not a ceasefire violation and that no militants had infiltrated during the firing.
“There is no ceasefire violation and matter is being blown out of proportion,” Official said referring to a media report about about infiltration of militants.
