Nothing ‘fishy’ about detained Malaysian ship

Kozhikode, Tuesday, February 16, 2010: The Malaysian ship which was detained off Kerala coast can soon leave the Indian waters, informed Coast Guard.

The ship which was headed for Colombo from Malaysia was detained off the Kerala coast by the Navy and the Coast Guard after it anchored in Indian waters without mandatory clearance, The Malaysian vessel, anchored at Vadakara in Kozhikode district after there was a variation in time, all thirty five workers on board are Indians.

“The vessel anchored in Indian waters yesterday without mandatory clearance, a joint team consisting of personnel from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, police, intelligence agencies and port authorities inspected the vessel,” the official added.

The ship would resume its journey today.
