Pathanamthitta, Wednesday, 02 December 2009: The Food Safety Commissionerate has made elaborate arrangements to implement the 57-point guidelines prescribed in the Food Safety Act at various hotels and other eateries at Sabarimala.
The Food Safety Commissioner, Manoj Joshi and Chief Health Co-ordinator for Sabarimala, Dinesh Arora, have said directions have already been issued to various shops at Sabarimala as well as the base camps of Pampa and Nilackal to strictly comply with the food safety norms.
They said hotels and other eateries at Sabarimala should see to it that only good quality food items were sold at their shops.
A round-the-clock Food Safety Control room has been opened at the Sannidhanam. Special teams have been conducting periodic inspections at the Appam-Aravana plant, Annadanam centres, canteens run by TDB as well as various departments, hotels, etc.
Nair Service Society has opened a free healthcare centre at Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Tuesday.
Unnikrishnan Namboodiri, assistant to temple head priest, lighted the ceremonial lamp. S.Sreekumar, Rajagopal and Madhusoodhana Menon, hospital authorities, were present.
