Govt likely to draw flak on price rise at CPM meet

New Delhi, Friday 25 December 2009: The government is expected to come under attack over its “failure” to stem rising prices and disinvestment policy when top leaders of CPM meet here from tomorrow to take stock of the prevailing political and economic situation in the country.

The two-day Politburo meeting would also review the agitational programmes being carried out in different parts of the country, which would culminate in a massive joint rally of Left parties in March, party sources said.

The recent assembly polls and bye-elections, including those in West Bengal where the party lost, would be reviewed.

The top leaders, including Chief Ministers Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Manik Sarkar, would take stock of the ‘rectification campaign’ that has been launched at all levels of the party to rid itself of ills like corruption and various forms of ideological deviations.
