Kasaragod, Wednesday 12 January 2011: Opposition leader Oommen Chandy has said the increasing number of violent incidents and murder in the State is due to the lack of effective supervision of law and order by the CPM-led LDF government.
The previous UDF government, which had passed the Act, had entrusted a three-member panel of High Court judges to ensure that the law was not “misused or diluted†by the police while dealing with such cases.
However, the LDF government made a mockery of the Act by appointing political leaders, who, in fact, decided the accused in such cases on the basis of political connections, Chandy said.
