Govt issues order making Malayalam mandatory in schools  

Kozhikode, Monday, September 5, 2011: The State Government had issued an order making Malayalam a compulsory subject in the schools. The order also allots more periods for students opting other languages as first language.

As per the same, there would be 8 periods for Malayalam in public schools. In oriental schools, three periods would be held during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The has asked the directors concerned to give reports for teaching Malayalam in state VHSCs and to make Malayalam mandatory in other higher secondary schools.
