Malappuram, Sunday, September 12, 2010: Expressing deep sorrow at the gruesome incident in which a Sub Inspector was shot dead in Malappuram distict today, Home Minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the incident is very serious. This is the first time such an incident is happening in the state, he said.

Balakrishnan said the state government would provide all support to the family of the dead. Mujib after shooting Vijayakrishnan point blank with a country made pistol, escaped to the nearby forest area, sources said. Police have intensified the search to nab the culprit, police said.
Meanwhile, North Zone ADGP Mahesh Kumar Singla and other top police officials had reached the spot.
