Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, June 30, 2009: In order to increase the effectiveness of the police department five more police stations would be set up this year informed Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the assembly.

Intelligence monitoring would be made strict. He also added that, it would be investigated whether terror involvement is hindering the land acquiring process in the state.

Referring to the DYFI attack on Peroorkada police station, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said, those attacking the policemen will not be spared, no matter which youth front they belong.

Home Minister added, the government is contemplating on starting a women battalion in the force. Women will be directly inducted to the SI selection process.
