Govt.rejects M Mukundan’s resignation  

Thiruvananthapuram, Friday 14 November 2008: The state government on Friday rejected the resignation forwarded by writer M Mukundan as the president of . Mukundan forwarded his resignation to cultural minister M A Baby. Baby said that the government will not recognise Mukundan’s resignation and the writer will continue in the post till the term ends.

Baby made it clear that chief minister V S Achuthanandan and CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan also want Mukundan to continue in the post. The resignation was forwarded after Mukundan statement in which he termed V S Achuthanandan as `outdated saint’, become a controversy.

The row reached its peak when VS in his reply said that he is old -fashioned and the preachers of modernism are terming communists as outdated.
