Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, July 08, 2010: The Vice President of India, M. Hameed Ansari today arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on a three day visit to the State. Governor R.S Gavai, Chief Minister V.S Achuthanandan, Chief Secretary P. Prabhakaran and Mayor C. Jayan Babu received Hameed Ansari and his wife Samalma Ansari at the airport.
Hameed Ansari inaugurated a national seminar on ‘Electoral reforms,’ organised by the C. Achutha Menon Study Centre and Library and Indira Gandhi National Open University, at the Kanakakkunnu Palace at 5 p.m today.
Hameed Ansari would inaugurate a library building constructed in the name of economist the late K.N. Raj at the Centre for Development Studies at 11 a.m. on Friday. He would inaugurate the Institute of Management in Government’s knowledge portal on the right to information at the IMG auditorium at 4 p.m. Ansari would stay at the Raj Bhavan.
He would leave for Kozhikode on Saturday morning. He would then distribute the 12th A.K. Nair Memorial Awards, under the aegis of the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce, at a function in Kannur at 11.30 a.m. He would also inaugurate the Inter University Centre for Bio-Sciences at 3.30 p.m. He would return to New Delhi in the evening.
