Moovattupuzha, Thursday, July 29, 2010: The Moovattupuzha Court on Thursday has declared the two accused in the hand chopping case as ‘fugitives’. Main accused Ali and another accused in the case Nazer has been declared as fugitives.
The police have already arrested many persons in connection with this case, many of them identified as Popular Front activists. The police had on July 23rd arrested two persons identified as Abdul Salam and Siddique. Raids were also conducted in many Popular Front offices; the police have unearthed many CDs and pamphlets that contain preachings of treason.

A gang of Popular Front activists attacked T.J Joseph, a Malayalam lecturer of Newman College in Thodupuzha, while he was returning after Sunday mass in his vehicle along with his family members. In the savage attack, the offenders chopped off his right palm. T.J Joseph had earlier landed into controversy for preparing a controversial question paper that had defamatory statements about Prophet Mohammed.
