Kochi, Monday, January 24, 2011: The Kerala High Court today has once again directed the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to file a detailed report on the Sabarimala stampede that claimed the lives of 102 pilgrims at Pulmedu in Vandiperiyar on January 14th. The Court observed various departments had filed diverse reports on the tragedy. The TDB special commissioner has been asked to study the reports filed by various departments and file a detailed report by the 11th next month.
HC also directed the forest officials present on the tragedy spot to file an affidavit. Though the forest department had filed a report, it lacks clarification of different fronts. The report by DGP speaks of a chain at the spot, but the forest department has kept mum on the issue. Officials on duty at the spot should inform the real happenings.
The forest department has been also directed to give a clear account of the number of vehicles that was provided entry to Pullumedu and how much parking facility was ensured at the area. Two weeks has been granted to file the report.
