Kozhikode, Tuesday 28 July 2009: Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy will hold a review meeting at the collectorate conference hall here at 2.30 p.m. today to assess the viral fever situation in the district.
The District Collector had asked the presidents of grama and block panchayats, tahsildars and municipal chairmen to attend the meeting. The legislators from the district will also attend the meeting.
The Health Minister will also chair a meeting of the technical wing of the Health Department at 3.30 p.m. District Medical Officer (DMO) K.M. Nurul Ameen had asked the public to remain vigilant against the outbreak of diseases. An outbreak is possible as recurring and less intense rain may increase the population of rodents and vectors, he said. Dr. Ameen said people should lay stress on source reduction to control the mosquito menace. Super chlorination of drinking water sources should be undertaken every two days, the DMO said.
