Heavy rain likely for two more days in Kerala   Heavy

Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, September 04, 2011: The heavy downpour lashing Kerala is most likely to continue for two more days in State according to the Meteorological department.

Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala. Rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep.

The chief amounts of rainfall reports in cm are – Kudulu (Kasaragod district), Thrissur & Vythiri (Wayanad district) 5 each, Enamackel (Thrissur district) & Mananthavady (Wayanad district) 4 each and Munnar (Idukki district), Ottappalam (Palakkad district) & Piravom (Ernakulam district)3 each. Another 29 stations reported rainfall of 1 cm to 2 cm.

Rain/thundershower will occur at many places in Kerala and Lakshadweep. will occur in Kerala during next 48 hours.

Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph is likely along & off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area during next 24 hours.
Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershower.
