Hidden Camera: Accused remanded

Kozhikode, Saturday, March 13, 2010: The accused, Akhil Jose of Kozhikode hidden camera case was remanded for two weeks by the Kozhikode Chief Judicial Majistrate Court today.

The police had arrested the youth on the charge of placing a hidden video camera in the ladies’ toilet of a multi-cuisine restaurant in the city.The accused, Akhil Jose, 23, an employee of the restaurant on the Mavoor Road, was charged under various Sections of the Information Technology Act.

Visitors to the restaurant had detected the hidden video camera in the toilet. They raised an alarm and informed the police. Meanwhile, several political parties and its feeder organizations took out a march to the hotel in protest against the incident.

Activists of the Youth Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Democratic Youth Federation of India took out separate marches to the hotel in the evening. Protestors threw stones at the hotel. Cases had been registered in connection with the incident, on Friday.
