Kochi, Monday, February 07, 2011: Kerala High court today directed the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) to take further steps with regard to the construction of its stadium at Eda Kochi only after clearance from the Coastal Regulatory Zone Management Authority (CRZMA).
The direction in this regard was issued by a division bench comrpsing Chief Justice J Chelameswar and Justice P R Ramachadnran on a PIL by C G Thampy and another petitioner from Aluva complaining that the construction of the stadium would destroy the mangrooves and cause severe environmental hazard.
The KCA gave an undertaking to the court that without getting clearance from all authorities they would not proceed with construction. Earlier, CRZMA had issued notice to KCA, which has been permitted to participate in further proceedings pursuant to the notice.
