Alappuzha, Monday 24 May 2010: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan announced that Kudumbasree units that took up paddy cultivation projects would be given interest-free loans.
Inaugurating the 12th anniversary district-level celebrations of Kudumbasree Mission and the fourth anniversary fete of the LDF government on the Alappuzha Beach, Achuthanandan said the Kudumbasree Mission had overcome several political attempts to weaken it and had shown exemplary courage and determination while doing inspirational work in society.
At present, Kudumbasree units are given loans for paddy cultivation at 1% interest. This will be done away with and they would be given interest-free loans, he said amidst applause from over lakh women who had assembled on the beach.
Achuthanandan asked the members of Kudumbasree to get involved in more social development-oriented projects, including paddy cultivation. The government would support them unconditionally, he said.
