Kottayam, Tuesday, March 01, 2011: Finance minister Thomas Isaac said it was a serious lapse on the part of opposition leader Oommen chandy who signed the agreement to import palmolein from Malaysia in 1991.
The case was that the then finance minister Oommen Chandy along with former chief minister K Karunakaran had conspired to import 15000 tonnes of palmolein from malaysia through a singapore based trading firm and in the process caused huge loss to public exchequer and monetary gain for the intermediary.
Chandy signed the agreement without informing the financial section, Isaac told reporters here. He said”let the anti-corruption court say the names of the accused”. The court will hear the case on march seven.
