Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, October 31, 2011: Governor M O H Farook condoled the death of Minister TM Jacob, saying Kerala had lost a seasoned politician, efficient parliamentarian and able administrator whose contributions would be remembered forever.
Jacob (61) had been under treatment for pulmonary hypertension for quite some time and died of multiple organ failure at Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi.
A long-time MLA, Jacob was widely recognised for his deep understanding and commitment as a legislator ever since he entered the house as a 26-year-old in 1977.
He also left a mark as an able administrator who handled important portfolios including Education, Water Resources and Culture in UDF ministries headed by late Congress stalwart K Karunakaran and A K Antony.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Defence Minister A K Antony, CPI(M) leader V S Achuthanandan and leaders of various political parties and cultural personalities expressed grief over Jacob’s death.
