New Delhi, Sunday 5 July 2009: The central leadership of JD (S) today announced the decision to suspend the Kerala state committee. A new 25 member executive committee chaired by NM Joseph has been appointed temporarily. Mathew T Thomas and Jose Thettayil are not part of the committee. The national executive also declared that the state council meeting scheduled for 12th of this month is illegal and warned of action against MP Veerendra Kumar, president of the dismissed committee, in case of going on with the meeting.
The national council also decided to expel K Krishnan Kutty from the primary membership of the party. The national council discussed about the action to be taken against MP Veerendra Kumar. Though speculations were ripe that an action against Veerendra Kumar would be announced today, the national council decided to give him yet another chance.
The latest development would speed up a split in the party, as the Veerendra Kumar faction is likely to conduct the state council and announce their decision to form a new party.
