Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, February 11, 2011: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented the Jnanpith Award to the noted Malayalam Poet and lyricist ONV Kurup at a function held in Vazhuthacaud Women’s College in Thiruvananthapuram today.

Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, Governer RS Gavai, Minister MA Baby, Minister C Divakaran and Opposition leader Oommen Chandy were present at the function. This is the first time that the Prime Minister is presenting the Jnanpith Award, the nation’s highest literary honour, outside New Delhi.
