Bangalore, Tuesday, July 26, 2011: Justice Shivraj Patil has been appointed the new Karnataka Lokayukta. His appointment was accepted by Governor HR Bhardwaj on Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s recommendation.
Former Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Patil will take charge on August 2, after current Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde’s term ends.
Also, the Governor gave his approval for the appointment of retired Karnataka high court judge R Gururajan as the second Upalokayukta.
Justice Patil had led the inquiry into the 2G spectrum scam and probed the role of telecom ministers since 1998.
