Kannur: BJP to take part in all-party meet  

Kannur, Saturday, 05 June 2010: A district level all-party peace conference called by the government would be held here in Thalassery today, regarding the tensions prevailing following a clash which took place at New Mahe on 21st May. BJP had earlier boycotted two meetings called by the government.

Tension broke out at Thalassery due to the killing of two BJP workers. The decision to boycott the meeting has been taken in protest against the refusal to call district level meet and making it a regional affair. BJP leaders had earlier came in sharply against the non-participation of Home Minister in the meeting.

Earlier report:

Two BJP activists killed when bombs were hurled on them near to the Mahe bridge here at New Mahe on Friday. The deceased are Vijith and Binoj from East Palloor.

According to the police, the attackers who arrived in a car threw bombs at the BJP workers who were traveling in a bike and attacked them with sword.

BJP accused CPM for the attack. The attack is seen as a continuation of the on-going tussle between CPM and RSS.
