Kozhikode, Saturday 20 March 2010: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal, who would be in Kozhikode today to attend the convocation at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, (IIM-K), would also attend a programme at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) on Sunday.
Sibal would be the chief guest at the convocation ceremony at IIMK and would distribute diploma certificates. The Minister would visit the NIT on Sunday to inaugurate the newly constructed central administrative building.
This building was completed recently using Central assistance for strengthening the infrastructural facilities after the conversion of the Regional Engineering College (REC) into National Institute of Technology in 2002.
The Minister would also inaugurate the new building of the School of Natural Sciences. This building would house the departments of chemistry, mathematics and physics. With the addition of these two buildings, NIT’s built up space will increase by 13,500 square metres.
