Karnataka HC to consider Maudani’s bail plea today

Bangalore, Wednesday, December 15, 2010: The will consider the petition filed by PDP leader Abdul Nazar Maudani, an accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts case today.

The petition will be considered by Justice N Ananda. Maudani was under judicial custody since August 17.

Earlier report:-

The bail was sought on the ground that there was no prima facie evidence against him to implicate him in the blasts, Maudani’s counsel P. Usman said. The bail plea was likely to come up for hearing in a day or two.

“Even four months after his arrest, the prosecution has not been able to gather any evidence against him. His remaining in custody is unwarranted because there is no question of any further investigation in the matter or his interrogation,” Usman told reporters.

Maudani was among 31 persons charge-sheeted in the case relating to the July 2008 blasts that killed a woman and left 20 others injured.
