Karunakaran returns to Thiruvananthapuram

New Delhi, Wednesday 10 June 2009: A contented K Karunakaran has left for Thiruvananthapuram, after getting the necessary assurances from the High Command and the . The Leader who arrived in the capital, accompanied by his daughter Padmaja Venugopal, on Sunday, has had a fruitful round of discussions with the top brass in the party. He has also being given the assurance from the high command regarding accommodation of his candidates in the Youth Cong as well.

The meeting with the PM is the unuttered endorsement that Karunakaran’s demands have been agreed to. The curtains have come down on the flurry of political activity that took place in the Kerala House with the Leader taking off for Thiruvananthapuram this evening.

Finally the “would-he?”, “wouldn’t-he?” query has found its answer as Karunakaran has finally acceded to accept the gubernatorial post. The meet with the PM also has significance as it is in continuation with that of Sonia Gandhi last evening.

The announcement of the Governors is expected to be around next week, since the Parliament went in recess just yesterday. Also the Ministry vacated by Meira Kumar also awaits to be filled. This would also mean a minor reshuffle of the Ministries.
