Kochi, Wednesday, January 07, 2009: MD Thara of Kerala bagged first gold in the National School Athletic meet being held in Kochi. Thara participated in the Under-19 3000 meters category.
Punjab’s Jagdeep Singh bagged gold in senior boys shot-put event.

Anita devi from Andhra Pradesh received gold in senior girls discus throw event.
In the senior boys long jump event Kerala secured bronze.
Around 2000 athletes from across the country are participating in the 54th national school athletic championship being held here from January 7 to 11.

Teams from all the states and union territories are participating in the championship.
