Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday, March 13, 2010: Kerala state Electricity Minsiter A.K Balan today told that, Kerala’s electricity crisis is severe since the consumption of electricity has increased rapidly. To reduce the power consumption in the state, 1 and a half crore CFL lamps would be supplied in the state in a Power saving campaign, which is to be held by March end, he told in a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram today.

The consumption per day has increased rapidly and has reached a staggering 54 million unit, this has put the state in to a power crisis situation, he told.
