Kochi, Tuesday 09 February 2010: The Kerala High Court today commuted to life term the death sentence awarded to a man, convicted for murdering a four-member family in November 2005.
A division bench directed that the accused Nawaz shall not be given parole or remission of sentence before completing 30 years in prison.
Nawaz, who was only 28, when the incident took place, was sentenced to death by sessions court at Thrissur for murdering Latha, her husband Ramachandran, their 11-year-old daughter and Ramachandran’s 85-year-old mother in Thrissur on November 3, 2005. The convict had filed a petition challenging the lower court order.
Nawaz was a driver engaged by the family. Gradually he developed close relations with Latha. After the family found out about the relationship, he was asked to leave and the relationship broke.
