Kerala to get Japanese bullet trains  

Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, February 6, 2012: Japan has agreed to provide Kerala with its most advanced I-700 model from the Shingansen train series.

Japanese bullet trains also known as “shinkansen” may run on the proposed Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore high speed rail corridor.

State planning commission board member and Delhi Metro rail company former chairman E Sreedharan and Kerala high speed rail company chairman T Balakrishnan has conducted discussions with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

These trains are capable of touching a top speed of 350 km/hr. These trains have been running successfully in Japan for around 45 years.
