New Delhi, Monday 27 July 2009: The state government today submitted a report on the loss suffered by eight districts following rain damages. In the report submitted to Home Minister P Chidambaram, a team led by Revenue Minister K P Rajendran had estimated a loss of Rs 269 crores. The centre had earlier rejected the two reports submitted by the state.
The team from the state had informed the home minister about the loss suffered and he in turn had assured to send a central team to the state by the end of this week.
KP Rajendran held talks with Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran. A decision was taken by the ministers to convene a joint meet of state and central governments for holding talks on establishing a permanent facility to tackle natural disasters. Mullappally Ramachandran will attend the meeting to be held on August 14.
